Title: | Mathematical models and numerical simulations of oil recovery |
Abstract: | Since the 1990s, drilling and well completion technologies have made enormous progress. The reservoir simulation business has not kept up with these developments, and new methods for modeling more complex situations are therefore needed. Some new methods of this kind will be briefly described and discussed. This includes near well models; in particular, streamline models for near well simulation will be discussed. Such models can make use of analytical solutions of Riemann problems. Finally, such analytical solution can also be used to improve interpretation of laboratory experiments, which will be briefly discussed. |
